Cybernetic security unit Everett Mason didn’t know what a bad day at work was until he watched his boss shoot two delegates from a neighboring star system in cold blood. Framed for murder, he and fellow cyborg Zander get off Virtus Base and out of Coalition space by hijacking the only civilian shuttle on station. Unfortunately, that shuttle happens to be occupied with its owner and a Virtus Base housekeeper, who are not happy about being roped into an intergalactic incident.
Sunny Trethewey is new to the Coalition and living on a major space station, and thinks she might have found a friend in Gemma, a glamorous Consort traveling aboard her luxury shuttle. The one new experience Sunny didn’t want to try is being a fugitive with three people she just met, even if Everett is ridiculously attractive and doesn’t think she’s an ignoramus from a backwater planet to boot.
But as the four of them race away from the Coalition under the threat of death, tempers flare, accusations fly, and secrets about Virtus Base start to come out. And Everett and Sunny might be the only people in the universe the other can trust until they can finally find somewhere safe to hide.
