Where are you going, where have you been?

I’d apologize for dropping off the face of the blogosphere again, but…oh, hell. I apologize for dropping off the face of the blogosphere. I don’t have an excuse. I’m much more active on Twitter, I swear. Follow me for book updates, Simpsons quotes, and musings about makeup and recipes.

As you can see from the front page of the site, DEAD RINGER is now available for pre-order (Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, Kobo, Smashwords—more retailers are on the way). It’ll go on sale September 23, and a print edition will also be available in the coming weeks.

What else have I been up to since I last updated in April?

I’ve been working on a new book, with the working title Half Past Midnight. I’ve tweeted a little about its progress but it isn’t finished yet. I’m also making notes for a new space opera unrelated to The Commons, but it’s a little far off to be making guesses about release dates. At the age of 31, I’ve returned to school on a full time basis for the next four semesters, which has been a bit of a shock. My education for the last few years has been on a strictly part time basis—at one point I was juggling 60% of a full course load while working 44 hours a week, and while plenty of people have managed more than that, it was exhausting—and I just bit the bullet and decided to get everything over with as soon as possible.

For the first time in my adult life, I’m wearing yoga pants outside of the gym. After more than a decade of adhering to work-mandated dress codes, it’s awesome. Of course, I’m enjoying the actual learning portion of my coursework and the sense that I’m finally moving forward in that area of my life, but the wearing of comfortable clothes is a perk I hadn’t considered.

I’m busy, but I’m enjoying it. It’s been a long time since I haven’t felt so stressed out. The stage fright I usually experience before a book is released is there, but it isn’t as bad as it was for the last two releases. Maybe the third time’s the charm (now wait and see what a basket case I turn into on September 22).

Stay tuned—I’ll be posting a teaser for Dead Ringer soon.
